Jenny Don’t and The Spurs: “Trouble With the Law”
Like Ian Faith (he of the cricket bat) told Spinal Tap’s label rep, “Every song on this album is a hit.” “Best of…” albums and anthologies are not always the sentimental favorites of fans. Listeners develop deeper relationships with albums that go on artistic vision quests, and maybe have a few stinkers in the lot. And there’s no repeating that experience of hearing the song the first time on its original release. But then again, if you’ve never heard Jenny Don’t & The Spurs, why not treat The Singles Roundup as their debut? The toe-tapping honky tonk rhythms sound as good as gold.
