Horse Jumper of Love: “Wink”

See this content in the original post

This band’s urgent lack of urgency shines. Our highlighted track “Wink” is a satisfying and kind of sleepy introspective pop amble. Unassuming except for what sounds like a change in key, or something, tossed in at a few pivotal moments to keep you off balance. At a tidy 2:58 in length, most pop songs can’t accommodate that kind of wobble without crashing into a fishbowl of boutique ornamentalism. But Horse Jumper of Love’s pacing is so damn slow that they’re able to pull off some tricks that would sound unsettling at normal speeds. To good effect. Off the full-length Disaster Trick.
