There’s a certain Chicago rock sound that threatens artcore, but is just a little too stripped down and restrained for the name. Glyders walk that line. Our highlighted track “Smooth Walker” half feels like a put-on, like a Personal & the Pizzas number. But the other half is all earnest throwback vintage rock. When the “landing UFO” solo breaks out two-thirds through the song, you know the band is ready to tread into some strange territory. Just as soon as they let their hair down.
