Genital Shame: “Taste Rot”

The metal’s so black they named it twice. Two out of the five “tags” at the bottom of Genital Shame’s Bandcamp page are “black metal.” We don’t want any confusion here. The vocals on our highlighted track “Taste Rot” are doomy, black metal to the core. The drums are pretty metal. You know, snares blasted out of cannons. There’s something else going on here, though, with melodic layers of pulsating sound that sound like the track was mashed up with New Age crystal healing music. The blend achieves a broody ambient catharsis that’s not entirely unpleasant.
