Ezra Furman and Alex Walton: “Beat Me Up”

Two rock n rollers just garage blasting on the fly. Ezra Furman and Alex Walton, together at last on this two-song release. Our highlighted track “Beat Me Up” is the b-side with a title that’s equally as masochistic as the a-side “Tie Me To The Train Tracks.” Both outcomes are trouble. Getting tied to the train tracks feels like a more maudlin, silent film villain type of scenario. Worth half a chuckle. But getting beat up is… just no good. Is this one of those Nirvana/”Rape Me” songs where the song’s protagonist asks for awfulness? I guess. Via Bella Union.
