Dun-Dun Band: “No. 1”
Electro jazz rock fusion from a Toronto mainstay. The Craig Dunsmuir-fronted Dun-Dun Band serves up a moon in many phases on our highlighted track “No. 1.” That’s the kind of name you give to a song when you’ve given up on giving names to songs. Which isn’t a bad thing – it’s just a thing. Waxing or waning, the zillion-piece ensemble transports you to a club night out on the town in The Six. The jazz epoch is late modern, early postmodern. In other words, the saxophones still play recognizable melodies and Andre 3000 isn’t coming out stage right to send us off with a 10-minute flute solo. So much the better. Off the full-length Pita Parka, Pt. I: Xam Egdub.
