Dead Gowns: “Renter Not A Buyer”

Portland, Maine’s Dead Gowns echoes the plaint of multiple generations of young adults trying to make inroads into an American economy that prefers to keep them voiceless, broke, and transient. So why not turn the plaint into a solid pop refrain in our highlighted track “Renter Not a Buyer”? No one’s got the money to buy, but there’s a certain freedom in not being tied down. Or at least we keep telling ourselves that. A nice ripping rock guitar progression floats Geneviève Beaudoin’s powerful vocals. Watch out for the faux finale around the two-minute mark, blooming into a surprise reprise.
