You can hear the acoustic folk skeleton on our highlighted track “Bird Bones.” If we were the betting sort (which we’re not, fuck those endless sports betting ads!), we’d bet that this song started life as most do: in the bedroom. Add a few layers of distortion, a backing band, and a guitar solo, though, and we find ourselves in new territory. A fully fleshed-out rock number, ripe and ready for live performance on a stage near you. But CJ Honey leans into the layered vocals like only a true folkie would. You can have your cake and eat it too.
