Ches Smith: “Minimalism”
Written By Michael Gutierrez
Skiffling ambient, experimental jazz with a minimalist take on high modernism. Our highlighted track “Minimalism” comes off Ches Smith’s full-length Laugh Ash. Definitely some Philip Glass influence in the mix. The serial scales wash over you. And the speak-song lyrics delivered over the top have a touch of Akhnaten, albeit delivered by the girl next door instead of a high priest. Mesmerizing. Available via Pyroclastic Records.
