Brandee Younger: “Games”

A Latin beat, a harp, and an upright bass walk into a bar. There’s no punchline. There’s just the sweet, uptempo instrumental “Games,” our highlighted track off the full-length album Soul Awakening by the decorated harpist Brandee Younger. She invites guest vocalists aboard elsewhere on the album, but on this track the strings and the drums do the talking.

Fun fact: the album was produced by Dezron Douglas, who Younger cut a live record with called Force Majeure. It’s a real pandemic-era artifact – you can hear the general air of anxiety in the stage banter.
