Blanket Approval: “Happy Alone, Pt. II”
Written By Michael Gutierrez
You know it from the opening bars, New York’s Blanket Approval is bringing the dance, motherfucker, dance-type song. But unlike the frenetic Violent Femmes ditty, our highlighted track “Happy Alone, Pt. II” is a cool jammer. Less latent white male aggression, more Topo Chico. Shades of every band that is bringing the disco back, reconstituted and repurposed to serve present agendas. It’s a let-your-hair-down MGMT b-side groove that the house band at Post Malone’s private bowling alley play each and every set by popular demand.
