André Obin: “Armored King”

A dark electropopper. The guitar phrasemaking at the start of our highlighted track (and title track of the LP) “Armored King” is enough to reel the sound into the rock zone. But the governing sensibility of the pop composition is electro. Momentum-based percussion, hazy washes, big builds, vocals used as a rhythmic adornment. But the man behind the moniker André Obin memorized a bunch of lyrics to spit, so this isn’t a “set it and forget it” laptop jawn. Would work well in a dimly-lit club.
