Providence’s Rochelle Bonamie (formerly Borboleta) takes her time on her latest EP Until That Time. The heavy lifter in this 5-track collection is her voice, which combines silky smooth notes and a jazzy vocal fry. There is a comforting throwback quality at the heart of her project, an homage to classic R&B from the ‘60s and ‘70s. But her sights are firmly fixed on the future of the genre, excavating treasures of the past for the sounds of right now. Think Frank Ocean or Erykah Badu.
