I Don't Mind if You're Around

New York’s Blac Rabbit seems handcrafted for the festival circuit with jammy psych rock to stretch your cerebellum through the hot afternoon hours before a headliner.

There’s an almost defiant lack of contour to the song structure. A jam like “Over the Rainbow,” off the 2017 self-titled EP, opens up with a guitar riff and drum backing that sounds like it's waiting for the frontman to get back from a cigarette break. The riff repeats ad infinitum like a mantra, interrupted by the occasional guitar noodle and hazy vocals.

Shades of Garcia Peoples in their updated take on classic jam tradition. Major Beatles aspirations in the pop-psych mode. Shades of Stone Roses in the long, drawn out percussive drive of the more extended numbers.

Our highlighted track “I Don’t Mind If You’re Around” will make you want to get high. What more do you want from psych rock?
