Allison de Groot and Tatiana Hargreaves: “The Banks of Miramichi”

Real deal old-timey folk energy wafts off this album like the sweet smell of a fresh baked pie. And by “old-timey,” we’re talking “archival.”

The music guy for a turn-of-the 20th century backwoods period film could hire de Groot and Hargreaves as the resident fiddlers for a roadhouse scene and they wouldn’t miss a beat. The pair call Durham, North Carolina home, but their latest record Hurricane Clarice was recorded in Portland, Oregon with “indie folk visionary” Phil Cook.

If you don’t know who Phil Cook is, don’t sweat it. Relax, take deep breaths, and have a listen to our highlighted track “The Banks of the Miramichi” until your pulse has returned to normal. If it ever does.

Stream, share, buy to your heart’s content.
