The music is method in Alabaster DePlume’s LP Gold. Jazz, lounge, ambient, world, and folk threads are tied together in a communal knot during a recording process that layered different tracks, from different artists, doing different takes, on different days, for the same songs.

You may not hear the microdifferentials, as the artist has expertly mixed the material back together to conceal all the rough edges. But you will feel them in your bones.

There is a strange tempo afoot in this album. The songs move along like a woozy parade, with ambulators dropping in and out, and the entire procession grinding to a halt around tight corners or losing contact with itself on long straightaways. Somewhere up above Alabaster DePlume is waving the baton, though, kindly encouraging his company to step back in line on their way to who knows where.
