Auditor of the Commonwealth

Suzanne Bump (D)

The Auditor is a state executive position responsible for conducting financial, performance and technical audits of state programs, departments, agencies and other uses of public money. The length of term is 4 years.

The current officeholder is Suzanne Bump (D), who assumed office in 2010. Bump is not running for reelection.

There will be a primary battle on the Democratic side, while the Republicans offer a single candidate.

Diana DiZoglio (D) won the Democratic primary, beating out Chris Dempsey by 10 points. The race was similarly framed by both candidates as centered on the principle of transparency. She is a current member of the Massachusetts State Senate, representing the 1st Essex District since 2019. Her committee duties include Cannabis Policy Joint Committee, Elder Affairs Joint Committee, and serving as the Senate chair of the Export Development Committee.

Anthony Amore’s (R) won the Republic primary unopposed. His professional experience includes working as the director of security and chief investigator at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. He has previously run an unsuccessful campaign for Secretary of State in 2018.
