The Jacklights: “Anniversary”
A nice finger-picking intro that drops the hammer into a more full-blooded altrock jammer. Our highlighted track “Anniversary,” off The Jacklight’s EP Final Girl, refuses to celebrate. Seems like there’s too much chagrin to grin. But can we at least call the occasion “bittersweet?” Wishing you could celebrate is halfway to getting it done, but not quite getting there. It’s kind of like visiting Whole Foods during an intense food sampler session. Tasty morsels everywhere you turn. Sure, you can have a bite of that pricy Burrata, but can you afford to put it in your basket? The gods on Olympus enjoy a good belly laugh.
