Reggie Dokes: “Universe Speaks”
Detroit’s Reggie Dokes spins records with a clarity that eludes most dancehall DJs. His original work on his latest four-track release with Still Records is a bubbling, gurgling, vibrating stew that transcends the usual club fodder and would be just as at home on the turntable in your own living room. Good luck finding the “ultra rare” release on vinyl (sold out – of course!). You can still vibe on the Bandcamp stream though. Our highlighted track “Universe Speaks” concludes the record with a mellow, six-minute slow build flaunting jazz overtones.
