Really fucking dig that these artists called all the songs on their album ‘Pages.’ The first song is “Page 1” (ft. James Massiah), the second song is “Page 2,” and so on. Kind of like modernist painters in the 20th-century eschewing titles for a date and a signature. Maybe not even a signature. What’s the best Malevich? “Untitled,” for sure. And yours? Hmmm… I’d have to disagree with you – “Untitled” is much better. Our highlighted track from Kyle Hall and Steven Julien is “Page 4.” Off Crown. It’s a funky minimalist house jammer that does boatloads with just a few elements. A gummy synth bass walking. Hard drum sample. Moony background keys. No wonder minimalist funkster Dam-Funk was brought aboard to contribute a remix to this superlative page turner…
