Happy Just To See You: “21st Century Soft Boy”
There are only two three songs on this band’s mini-EP Three New Songs. Right? Oh, whatever, never mind. We’re just happy to see Manchester’s Happy Just To See You shoot the breeze of the alt rock popper “21st Century Soft Boy” in the key of joy. The acoustic guitar leading the march gives the affair a campfire feel, but the usual rock rigamarole of electric lead, bass, and drums outfit the melody in full dress. The harmonies of the vocal duet toward the end of the track give the song its special something.
