Folk Music Is Insane

Listen to it again for the first time

In 2019 Hallelujah The Hills released I’m You to rave reviews. The band crafts gorgeous folk Americana and the album captures them at their best. Guitar melodies fall to earth like a soft summer rain while the rhythm section hurries up as it slows down. Ryan Walsh’s adds a quizzical, observational touch to the proceedings. The usual host of folksy instrumentation – guitar, bass, keys, viola – is complemented by some exquisite brass sounds from Brian Rutledge. Go and listen to the whole album, start to finish, then listen to it some more.

The vinyl was originally produced from a crowdfunding campaign and the last record has been snapped up as far as we can tell. Maybe time for a second pressing? Our highlighted track “Folk Music Is Insane” has fun with its musical conceit, loathing what one undoubtedly loves, á la Jesus & Mary Chain’s 12-inch “I Love Rock’n’Roll” b/w “I Hate Rock’n’Roll.”

Stream, share, buy (just not the vinyl?) to your heart’s content.
